Living high up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado just south of Rocky Mountain National Park and west of the great Continental Divide, I like to think of myself as a sort of modern-day mountain man. Being in such a beautiful area, I naturally have a love for nature. As a kid, I was always outside riding my bike, playing soccer in the summer sun, and camping with Boy Scouts. Nowadays, even after having graduated high school with the same friends I've known all my life, I still love breathing in the fresh mountain air. I've picked up a camera and a set of wheels, and photographing the local marvels of nature is something that's become one of my favorite things to do. For me, photography is a powerful and rewarding art that gives a sense of self-acheievement especially when you hear that others enjoy your work just as much as you.
On the days I don't feel like going on an outdoor adventure, I either play some pool with my dad or open up my laptop and delve into the realms of cyberspace. Having been pretty much the geek among my family and my friends growing up, I've taught myself the workings of the world wide web and how computers compute. My main interest in technology (besides digital photography) is web design and development. I always have some sort of web project on the side to work on whenever I get some free time.
However, as much as I enjoy computers, it just doesn't fill the desire I have for adventure. Time spent throughout my childhood around international students at our local YMCA has ignited a flame inside of me to set out and explore all of the cultures of the world as much as I can. While there are amazing people and places right here at home, I think it is important to reach out beyond what's familiar and be a citizen of the world.
Currently, I'm a student at the University of Colorado at Boulder working toward a degree in French and minors in Russian and computer science. I am hoping that someday I will be able to use these to travel the world, exploring the unknown and putting my photography or computer skills to work. Apart from my studies, I'm also involved with several clubs on campus including <div>, the Boulder Photo Club, and ONE.
